Sascha Bert (born March 5, 1976 in Darmstadt ) is a German racing car driver .

Career

Formula racing

In 1984 Bert began his career in karting . In 1988 and 1989 he became German kart champion. In 1994 he drove in Formula Renault and finished fourth in the championship. The following year he achieved his first race win in the series. In 1996 and 1997 he took part in the German Formula 3 Cup as an Opel factory driver . After a year as a test driver, he received a cockpit in the International Formula 3000 Championship in 1999 , but failed to qualify in all three races. In 2000 he started in the Euroseries 3000 .

Touring cars and GT sports

From the first edition in 2001 until the end of the series in 2003, Bert took part in the V8-Star . In 2004, a V8-Star remained his vehicle when he started for Zakspeed in two rounds of the BFGoodrich endurance championship and in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring . When he was allowed to compete in Zakspeed's Dodge Viper GTS-R in 2005 , he achieved the greatest success of his career to date with third place in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring.

In the 2006 season, Bert contested the FIA GT Championship on a Zakspeed Saleen S7R . There he celebrated two race victories and achieved sixth place in the drivers' championship. He had another outing at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, where his vehicle, however, failed. Even in 2007, when he drove in the Aston Martin DBRS9 from Phoenix , he was denied the finish. However, nothing changed when he was back at the wheel of the Zakspeed Viper in 2008. In the same year he also took part in individual races of the BFGoodrich Endurance Championship , the FIA GT3 European Championship and the ADAC GT Masters . In 2009, he was able to celebrate a major success when he in the 997 GT3 Cup Porsche of Uwe Alzen finished fourth in the 24-hour race at the Nurburgring reached.

In addition, Bert has been an instructor for the OPC Race Camp since 2007 .
