Career

Luca Ludwig only began racing after graduating from high school at the age of 19. In September 2008 he contested his first automobile race on the Nürburgring Nordschleife .

In the following year , three race victories and numerous podium places in the cockpit of a Callaway Competition Corvette, which he shared with Marc Hennerici , led to the runner-up in the ADAC GT Masters - just beaten by former DTM driver Christian Abt .

He became his team boss when Luca Ludwig drove alongside Christopher Mies and Jens Klingmann for Abt Sportsline in 2010 and won the German GT Championship , which was held for the first time . At the end of the season, he finished third in the ADAC GT Masters classification in an Abt- Audi R8 LMS . The greatest success, however, came in third place in the 24-hour race on the Nordschleife . The Audi R8 LMS used by Phoenix Racing also achieved first place in its class.

In 2011, Luca Ludwig drove in the Abt- Audi as the driver of the Audi squad. With one win and three more podium positions, it was enough to finish fourth in the championship. He was also appointed to the Audi works squad for the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. At the side of drivers like Mattias Ekström and Timo Scheider , he and his Abt Audi team did not achieve great success due to a technical problem. In the subsequent VLN races on the Nordschleife, two of which Luca Ludwig competed in the Phoenix Audi, he was able to achieve another podium place. In 2012, Luca Ludwig competed in all VLN races for Audi Sport Team Phoenix. At the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, he was signed up by Raeder Motorsport in an Audi R8 this year .

Like his father Klaus, who for many years helped shape the touring and sports car scene with Mercedes-Benz , Luca has been driving a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 since the middle of the 2013 season . In addition to some events for the Blancpain Endurance Series , he was used in the ADAC GT Masters and in the 12h race in Sepang , Malaysia, where he captured the pole position. He is also a member of the AMG Driving Academy.

In 2015 , Ludwig and Sebastian Asch won the overall standings of the ADAC GT Masters in a Zakspeed - Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 . In 2016 he continued his involvement in the ADAC GT Masters, but did not manage to defend the championship title with the new Mercedes-AMG GT3. In Hockenheim he finished the season in sixth place overall. He also finished sixth in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring in the Mercedes AMG GT3. At the start of 2018, the long-time Mercedes driver moved to the Ferrari warehouse. At HB Racing he started for the first time at the ADAC GT Masters in Oschersleben in a Ferrari 488 GT3.
