The Sepang International Circuit (SIC) is a motorsport racetrack in Malaysia . It is located in the city of Sepang about 45 km south of Kuala Lumpur in the immediate vicinity of the capital's international airport .

The racetrack is one of seven current tracks designed by Hermann Tilke . The track was added to the Formula 1 racing calendar in 1999 and was an integral part of the calendar up to and including 2017. The Malaysian Grand Prix as part of the motorcycle world championship and some regional races also take place on the circuit .

In 2011 the Malaysian Grand Prix in the MotoGP class was canceled due to Marco Simoncelli's fatal accident and not counted.

Route data
The racetrack is 5.54 km long and its two long straights connected by the hairpin turn are rather unusual. The route is very wide (up to 22 m). The course allows two further variants of 2.61 km and 2.71 km. Driving is usually clockwise. The start / finish straight is 920 m long.
The Formula 1 track record in the race is 1: 34.080 min and was set by Sebastian Vettel on October 1, 2017 . The day before, Lewis Hamilton set the fastest lap ever driven there in 1: 30.076 minutes on the way to pole position. In Formula 1, 56 laps were driven, which corresponds to a total distance of 310.408 km.
Jorge Lorenzo drove in the first MotoGP test for the 2018 season with 1: 58.830 min, the fastest time ever set with a MotoGP motorcycle on this circuit.
