The Baku City Circuit ( Azerbaijani Bakı Şəhər Halqası ) is a city circuit in downtown Baku in Azerbaijan . As of 2017 , the race was renamed the Azerbaijan Grand Prix .
Route description
The street circuit is located in the middle of the city center, leads around the historic old town of Baku along many sights such as the Maiden's Tower and along the waterfront to the square in front of the seat of government.
The track was designed by the German track designer Hermann Tilke . The route was presented in October 2014, the route is 6.003 km long and consists of eight right and twelve left turns.
Most of the elements of the street circuit will be set up temporarily, such as the paddock, the pit buildings and other buildings for the teams, the press center and the Formula 1 medical center .
