The Råbelövsbanan was a temporary motorsport racetrack in Sweden .
The route consisted of public roads that were cordoned off for the events. It was about five kilometers north of Kristianstad and about 100 kilometers northeast of Malmö in the province of Skåne län in southern Sweden . It is named after Råbelöv, a mansion on the route, the owner of which made the land on which the slope lay available.
Route data
The Råbelövsbanan was driven clockwise . It was six to eight meters wide and 6,357 meters long.
From the start and finish, the piste ran northwards to Skola , and from there north-east to Råbelöv . Then it turned southeast and led via Fjålkestad to Stenslid . The route then ran south via Balsby , Fårarp and Nosaby to Fredrikslund , where it turned west towards Fredriksdal and Torsebro . Then it led north back to the start and finish.
history
From 1951 races were held on the Råbelövsbanan. From 1951 to 1961, the Skåneloppet , named after the province of Skåne, was held, a motorcycle race that quickly gained international importance. So carrying, for example, German DKW - factory driver Siegfried wishes and August Hobl and Reg Armstrong and Geoff Duke in the winners' lists. In 1956, Lo Simons from the Netherlands had a fatal accident during Skåneloppet .
The Kristianstad 1000 km automobile race counted as the Swedish Grand Prix for the World Sports Car Championship in 1956 and 1957 .
In 1959 and 1961, the track hosted the Swedish Grand Prix as part of the Motorcycle World Championship after serious accidents had occurred in the previous venue, Hedemora . From 1962 , the Scandinavian motorcycle world championship round was relocated to Finland and the Swedish Grand Prix was no longer held for the time being. As a result, there were no more races in Kristianstad.
