The Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo is a 4.005 km long motorsport racing track in Cheste , around 20 kilometers from the Spanish city of Valencia . It is named after the former Spanish motorcycle racer Ricardo Tormo , who came from near Valencia.

history

The permanent race track was inaugurated on September 19, 1999 . Since the opening year, the Valencia Grand Prix has been held as part of the Motorcycle World Championship, and there are regular races for the Superbike World Championship , the FIA GT Championship and the World Touring Car Championship . In 2010 the DTM also held a run.

useful information

The route is driven on in an anti- clockwise direction and has nine left and five right bends with lane widths between twelve and 13 meters. The audience capacity is given as 120,000, of which 60,000 are seats. Similar to the EuroSpeedway Lausitz or the Motodrom of the Hockenheimring , the grandstands are arranged around the track - there are no spectator seats in the interior ( infield ) of the track.

Because of the mild climate, the track is also popular as a test track for Formula 1 teams in winter .
