It was designed by the Australian Michael McDonough, who was already involved in the construction of the Zhuhai International Circuit . Plans to extend the route have not yet been implemented.
Events
In addition to the Chinese Superbike championship and the Chinese Touring Car Championship (CTCC) was held here in 2011 , a run of the FIA GT1 World Championship instead. This run was started as a replacement after Curitiba's cancellation in August.
In 2014 a round of the World Touring Car Championship took place here, which was added to the racing calendar as a replacement for the canceled race on Sonoma Raceway .
