Jan Seyffarth (born July 12, 1986 in Querfurt ) is a German automobile racing driver .

Career

Seyffarth's racing career began with karting at the age of twelve . In the years 1999 to 2002 he won several kart championships and in 2002 made the leap into formula racing . So he started in Formula König from 2002 , in which he finished second in the overall ranking in 2003. In 2004 he switched to Formula 3 and was able to draw attention to himself there in the first two races with two victories.

Seyffarth was accepted into the UPS Porsche Junior Team at the end of 2004 and competed in sports car races from 2005. He started in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup . In the 2007 and 2008 seasons he was on the road for his father Rüdiger Seyffarth's team (SMS Seyffarth Motorsport) and celebrated his greatest success there in 2008 when he became runner-up in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany.

In the 2009 season Seyffarth drove for the tolimit / Seyffarth Motorsport team in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and for the Abt Sportsline team with an Abt- Audi R8 LMS in the ADAC GT Masters . After a serious accident on the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya , he had to pause for several races in both racing series.

In 2010 Seyffarth switched to MRS Racing and finished fifth at the end of the year.

In addition to his work as a racing driver, Seyffarth also works as an instructor, among others for Mercedes-AMG and Porsche AG. Jan Seyffarth produces articles for the RTL II format Grip - Das Motormagazin . He also comments on the races of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany for the broadcaster Motorvision TV , the races of the FIA Formula E championship for Eurosport and DMAX and the races of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup for Eurosport. Since 2017 he can also be heard on n-tv during the free practice sessions of Formula 1 .

He has been the official Mercedes-AMG test and development driver since 2015 and has played a key role in the development of the Mercedes-AMG GT3.

In the 2016 season, Seyffarth competed for the HARIBO Racing Team AMG in the VLN endurance championship and the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring.
