Sebring 12 hour race 2018

The 66th Sebring 12-hour race , also The 66th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Advance Auto Parts , took place on March 17 and 18, 2018 at the Sebring International Raceway and was the second IMSA WeatherTech race SportsCar Championship 2018 .
The race
The 2018 edition of the 12-hour race began with a hectic start. A few meters after the start of the collided pole- Tristan Vautier in Cadillac DP i-VR with the OnRoak Nissan DP i of Olivier Pla . While Vautier was able to continue, the race for Pla was over after just a few racing seconds. During the course of the race, Vautier had another collision. This time it concerned the Acura ARX-05 from Juan Pablo Montoya , who also retired. The Vautier race ended in the last hour of the race on a flat tire. The decision about overall victory was also influenced by the caution phases. While the victorious Tequila Patron ESM got through the race without incidents and unplanned pit stops, the Cadillac teams had to struggle with various problems. The Mazda RT24-P with the starting number 55, used by Joest Racing , had the longest range and drove in the top field for a long time. By changing the battery once and changing the brake discs, it dropped to sixth place.
The most spectacular accident had Frank Montecalvo , whose Ferrari 488 GT3 came to rest on the roof after an accident. The GTLM class was won by Nick Tandy , Patrick Pilet and Frédéric Makowiecki in the Porsche 911 RSR . In the GTD class, the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 from Madison Snow , Bryan Sellers and Corey Lewis won .
