Paul Dalla Lana (born February 1, 1966 in Vancouver ) is a Canadian entrepreneur and racing car driver .

Entrepreneur

Paul Dalla Lana is the founder and CEO of NorthWest Healthcare . Since 2004, the company has offered investors the opportunity to invest in healthcare properties around the world . The managed properties also include specialist medical centers in Germany .

In 2008 he founded with an initial investment of 20 million US dollars , the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto .

Racing career

Paul Dalla Lana started racing in 2009. He drove first races in the Canadian Touring Car Championship and entered the Grand-Am Sports Car Series in 2010 . At Turner Motorsport , he was both a driver and a sponsor. Emergency vehicles up to the end of the 2012 season were BMW M6 and BMW M3 . Teammates included Bill Auberlen , Joey Hand and Dirk Werner at the start.

Starting in 2013 , the starts in the Grand Am Series also included appearances in the FIA World Endurance Championship . Every year, Dalla Lana bought one of the cars from Aston Martin Racing , which was then serviced and looked after by Aston Martin at the championship races. With Pedro Lamy and Mathias Lauda , Niki Lauda's son , he formed a successful driver trio in the LMGTE-Am class in the following years. After finishing third in 2015 and 2016 , Dalla Lana, Lamy and Lauda won the final ranking in the LMGTE class of the 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship .

In 2013 he made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans , where he was close to class victory in 2015 . One hour before the end of the race, with a clear lead over Victor Shaitar , Aleksey Basov and Andrea Bertolini in the Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 , he had an accident in the Ford chicane in front of the start-and-finish straight after a driving error. The Aston Martin was so badly damaged that the team was unable to continue. He also had an accident at Le Mans in 2018 . Again the team had to give up prematurely in a promising position.
