Shane Lewis

Shane Lewis (born August 8, 1967 in Lancaster ) is an American racing car driver .

Career

Shane Lewis' motorsport career began in 1989 with involvement in US Formula Ford championships . At the end of the year he won the 20th edition of the Formula Ford Festival. Lewis was not known as a monoposto pilot , but as a sports car and GT driver .

From 1991 he regularly competed in the SCCA and IMSA racing series. In 1995 he won the IMSA supercar races in Mid-Ohio and Phoenix .

In the overall standings of the SCCA World Challenge in 1996 he finished second behind Almo Coppelli and in 1998 he was third in the GT1 class of the United States Road Racing Championship behind Thierry Boutsen and Andy Wallace . From 1999 the American Le Mans Series was his preferred field of activity, partly in parallel with engagements in the Grand-Am Sports Car Series . After finishing second overall in the GTC class of the American Le Mans Series in 2010 , after reports from many different races in 2014 , he switched to the newly founded United SportsCar Championship , where he is still active today.

Lewis also competed in Europe. He contested the Le Mans 24-hour race three times and the Nürburgring 24-hour race twice .
