Andy Wallace (racing driver)
Andy Wallace (born February 19, 1961 in Oxford , England ) is a former British racing driver .
Career
Monopostosport
After attending Jim Russel's racing school in 1976, Wallace began his racing career in 1979. Up to and including 1984 he drove in Formula Ford . In the following two years he was active in the British Formula 3 championship , which he won in the 1986 season. In 1987 and 1988 he competed in the International Formula 3000 Championship .
Success in sports cars
At the same time, Wallace became a member of Jaguar's sports car team . This is where the most successful part of his career began. On his debut at the Le Mans 24 Hours , he won the race together with Jan Lammers and Johnny Dumfries in a Jaguar XJR -9. In 1990, 1997 and 1999 he won the Daytona 24 Hours with changing partners , and in 1993 and 1994 he won the Sebring 12 Hours .
Also in 1994, Wallace set the eleven-year world speed record with a production car. He drove a McLaren F1 386.403 km / h.
