The 58th Sebring 12 Hours of Sebring , also the 58th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Presented by Fresh From Florida, Sebring International Raceway , took place on March 20, 2010 at the Sebring International Raceway and was the first race of the ALMS 2010 season .

The race

Peugeot won the Sebring 12-hour race with the 908 HDi FAP . The vehicle was of a V12 - diesel engine driven with 5.5-liter displacement and an opening angle of 100 °. This gave it an output of around 515 kW (700 hp) and developed a maximum torque of 1,200 Nm. The FAP diesel particulate filter system was taken over from series production.

The two Peugeots were virtually unrivaled in the LMP1 class. The lead around the front only changed between these two vehicles. The decision was made 40 minutes before the end of the race when Sébastien Bourdais made a spin after his last pit stop with the tires still cold. Alexander Wurz in the second 908 HDi FAP, who had already made his last pit stop, passed by. Bourdais tried to pass his teammate again until the end, but had to admit defeat by 15 seconds at the finish. Third-placed plant - Lola-Aston Martin LMP1 , which officially Lola B09 60 stand / in the message list, was already three laps back.

The newly introduced challenge classes did not ensure the large number of caution phases feared beforehand. The field only had to be slowed down four times. The MPM2 class went to the Muscle Milk Team Cytosport - Porsche RS Spyder . The fiercest battle for class victory was in the GT2 class between the Risi - Ferrari F430 GTC and the BMW M3 E92 from the BMW Rahal Letterman Racing Team , which was won by Risi.
