Darren Law


Darren Law (born April 4, 1968 in Toronto ) is a former American car racing driver of Canadian descent and motorsport official.
Racing career
Darren Law started motorsport as a teenager . At the age of 14, he competed in kart races and switched to Formula Renault in 1991 . After a few years in touring car racing , where he finished eighth overall in the North American Super Touring Championship in 1996 and 1997 , he started his career as a GT and sports car driver in 1998 .
By the end of his driving career, Law had driven 278 sports car races; he celebrated three overall and 9 class wins and finished 20 races on the podium of the top three. His first overall victory was also his greatest success in an international sports car race. In 2009 he won the Daytona 24-hour race on a Riley Mk.XI together with David Donohue , Antonio García and Buddy Rice . He celebrated his last success at the 2012 2-hour race in Detroit , a race in this year's Grand-Am Sports Car Series .
In 2009 he made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans . After three failures in a row, he made his only finish at the 24-hour race in France in 2012 . Together with Spencer Pumpelly and Seth Neiman , he achieved 27th place overall in a Porsche 997 GT3 RSR from Flying Lizard Motorsports . He was able to place better at the 12-hour race in Sebring , where he finished eleventh overall in 2009 and 2010 . It was his best results in the final classification of the endurance race at the Sebring International Raceway .
In 2001 he secured the overall standings in the GT class of the Grand-Am Sports Car Series, where he was second overall in 2000 and 2002 and third overall in various racing classes in this racing series in 2011 and 2012. In addition, he finished second overall in the GT class of the American Le Mans Series in 2004 .
Motorsport official
During his time as a professional pilot, Law was already active as a driving instructor at the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving . After the end of his driving career, he also ended his activity there and switched to the management of Flying Lizard Motorsports.
