Sebring 12 hour race 2004

The 52. 12-hour race at Sebring , and 52nd Annual Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring, Sebring International Raceway , was on 20 March 2004 at the Sebring International Raceway place and was the first championship round of the 2004 American Le Mans Series season .
Before the race
As in the previous year , the American Le Mans Series began in Sebring. Marco Werner and JJ Lehto started the new season as defending champions .
The race
In 2004 Audi celebrated the fifth success in a row at Sebring, with the R8 winning the race. In 2004 there was a triple victory for the R8, led by Allan McNish , Frank Biela and Pierre Kaffer in the Audi Sport UK Team Veloqx R8. The LMP2 class won Ian James , Mike Borkowski and John Macaluso on a Lola B2K / 40 . With a gap of 96 laps on the winners, the trio finished 21st in the overall standings.
The GTS classification won fourth overall; Ron Fellows , Johnny O'Connell and Massimiliano Papis who drove a factory Chevrolet Corvette C5-R . The two Porsche drivers Timo Bernhard and Sascha Maassen were the winners in the GT class .
