Lola B2K / 10
The Lola B2K / 10 was a Le Mans prototype built by Lola Cars in 2000 .
The B2K / 10 was the successor to the B98 / 10 , and replaced it in the large Le Mans prototype class - the LMP1 class. However, the B2K / 10 was not a new build, but a consistent further development of its predecessor model. A characteristic feature of the car was its front section with the third headlight in a powerful bulge above the front axle. The rest of the body was completely redesigned and was much stiffer than the B98 / 10. The prototype was designed as a customer vehicle and was mainly sold to racing teams from the USA who used these vehicles in the American Le Mans Series . A total of six chassis were made.
Lola developed the car for three different engine configurations, which were later to be followed by more. The choice was a 6-liter V8 engine from Ford , which was revised by Roush Racing . In addition, there was the tried and tested GV4-V10 engine from Judd and the aging 6-cylinder twin-turbo boxer engine from Porsche .
The B2K / 10 became a popular customer vehicle in the races of the American Le Mans Series, the European Le Mans Series and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans , where the car was first used in 2000 by Jan Lammers ' Racing for Holland team was used. In the US, Champion, Rafanelli and Taurus Sports Racing drove this vehicle. In Europe, Konrad Motorsport , among others, relied on this technology. The B2K / 10 had its final year in 2004 , when Taurus returned to Le Mans with the car. Then in 2005 some of these types ran in various sports car races before Lola delivered the new prototype model with the Lola B06 / 10 at the end of the year .
