Klaus Trummer

Klaus Trummer (born February 24, 1945 in Zeitz ) is a former German canoeist who competed in the canoe slalom for the German Democratic Republic .

Career

Trummer started for the SC DHfK Leipzig , together with Jürgen Kretschmer he won the GDR championship in two-man Canadians in 1968, 1970, 1971 and 1973 , and the two runners-up in 1974 and 1975.

At the 1971 World Championships in Meran, Trummer / Kretschmer won ahead of Rolf-Dieter Amend and Walter Hofmann and the third GDR boat with Uwe Franz and Ulrich Opelt; the GDR drivers also won the team world championship.

At the 1972 Olympic Games , Olympic canoe slalom competitions were held for the first time. On the Augsburg ice canal, Amend and Hofmann won ahead of Hans-Otto Schumacher and Wilhelm Baues from the Federal Republic of Germany and the French brothers Olry, Trummer and Kretschmer took fourth place.

In 1973 Trummer / Kretschmer took second place at the World Championships in Muotathal behind Jiri Krejza and Jaroslav Pollert from Czechoslovakia; the team competition won the West German canoeists in front of Czechoslovakia, the team from the GDR received the bronze medal. Two years later, at the World Championships in Skopje , Trummer and Kretschmer won the world title, as in 1971 they won the individual and team competitions.
