Rolf-Dieter Amend (born March 21, 1949 in Magdeburg ) is a former German canoeist and current canoe trainer .

Career

At the 1972 Olympic Games , Rolf-Dieter Amend was together with Walter Hofmann on the Augsburg ice canoe slalom - Olympic champion in the two-man canoe .

Since completing his studies, he worked as a sports coach in canoe racing . At ASK Vorwärts Potsdam he looked after successful athletes such as the Olympic champions Kay Bluhm and Torsten Gutsche . Since 1991 he has been the national coach for the kayak men and is also responsible for the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr in Potsdam . The athletes he personally supervises include a. the Olympic champions Mark Zabel , Olaf Winter , Manuela Mucke and the current team athletes Tim Wieskötter and Ronald Rauhe . As a national coach, he has so far participated in nine Olympic victories.

In 2008 he was named Trainer of the Year by the German Olympic Sports Confederation .

Amend is married and has two children. He lives in Neu Fahrland .
