Career

The canoe racer has been successfully participating in a number of major international competitions in single and double kayaks with Tim Wieskötter since 1999 . He has been working for the KC Potsdam since 2002 . In 2004 the duo became Olympic champions over 500 m. After they were unbeaten at all international championships between 2001 and 2008, they were defeated by the Spanish Saúl Craviotto and Carlos Pérez at the 2008 Olympic Games by nine hundredths of a second . Nationally Rauhe is the record holder. At the German Championships in 2009 in Brandenburg an der Havel , he increased his number of titles to 53.

After 2009, Rauhe was initially unable to win any major races, most recently due to the dominance of the Russians Alexander Dyachenko and Yuri Postrigai . In January 2014 Tim Wieskötter resigned from competitive sports. Since spring 2014, Rauhe has been training in a two-person kayak with Tom Liebscher . In the same year they won the 200 meter title at the European Championships, and silver at the subsequent World Championships . The two also won the silver medal at the 2015 European Games . In the 200 meter final of the 2016 Olympic Games , Rauhe and Liebscher took fifth place, in a single canoe over this distance, Rauhe won the bronze medal at the same time as the Spaniard Saúl Craviotto . From 2017 it is part of the German four-kayak over 500 meters. Together with Tom Liebscher, Max Lemke and Max Rendschmidt , he drove a world record in this discipline. They also won the world championships that year and the following year.

For winning the bronze medal, he received the silver bay leaf on November 1, 2016 .

Rauhe is currently a sports soldier , has lived with the canoeist Fanny Fischer in Falkensee since 2008 , married in 2015 and has two sons with her (* 2014 and 2016).
