Yuri Viktorovich Postrigai ( Russian Юрий Викторович Постригай ; born August 31, 1988 in Sverdlovsk , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a Russian canoeist , 2012 Olympic champion and 2013 world champion.

Athletic career

At the 2009 World Championships in Dartmouth , Postrigai finished fifth (200 m). Two years later he won a gold medal at the European Championships in Belgrade and a bronze medal at the World Championships in Szeged . At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London , Postrigai and Alexander Dyachenko won a gold medal in a two-man kayak over 200 meters. At the 2013 World Championships , Postrigai and Dyachenko won a gold (K-2 200 m) and a silver medal (K-1 200 m relay). They set a new world record with 31,182 seconds. At the European Championships 2014 in Brandenburg an der Havel Postrigai and Djatschenko won a silver medal (K-2 200 m) behind Ronald Rauhe and Tom Liebscher from Germany . At the 2015 World Championships in Milan , the duo again took second place, this time behind Sandor Totka and Peter Molnar from Hungary. At the 2015 European Games in Baku , the two Russians only took sixth place (K-2 200 m).

Juri Postrigai is married to Anastassija Postrigai, their son is called Michail (* 2013).
