Canoe Racing European Championships

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Canoeing Championships are an international sporting event in canoeing and kayaking . They are currently organized by the European Canoe Association (ECA). The title fights took place for the first time in 1933 in the Czechoslovak capital of Prague . At that time they were still organized under the leadership of the International Canoe Association . After the Second World War , the championships were resumed in 1957. The events always took place in the years when there were no canoe world championships . After the European Championship in 1969 in the Soviet capital Moscow , there were no more European championships for the time being, since the World Championships took place annually from 1970, with the exception of the Summer Olympic Games , and there was no place in the calendar for the European Championship. After the ECA was founded in Rome on December 11, 1993 , European canoe racing championships have been held again since 1997. Since 2004 every year.
