European Canoe Association

The European Canoe Association (ECA) is the umbrella organization for canoeing in Europe . It was founded in Rome in May 1993 . 44 national associations belong to it.

history

The first International Canoe Association was founded in 1924 by Germany, Denmark, Austria and Sweden. In 1933 he organized the first European championship for canoe racing in Prague . In addition to other European championships, numerous world championships were held. In the years 1957 to 1969 European and World Championships alternated. From 1970 world championships were held every year and the European championships under the direction of the ICF were canceled. Some time passed until the European Canoe Association ECA was founded in Rome in 1993. In 1997 he organized the first European championship in Plovdiv ( Bulgaria ). Since then, the ECA has held European championships in the various canoeing disciplines every year.
