National coach
As national coach in will sport the coach of a German national team called. This is used by the respective federal association of the sport in question.
The national coach must have a corresponding coach license. Some sports federations are circumventing this rule in order to make it easier for experienced, former athletes to gain access to this office by introducing the office of team leader . For the legal legitimation of the team boss, he is provided with a trainer who has the appropriate license.
Even if the term generally only refers to the head coach of the first adult team, in many sports all coaches of a federal association who are responsible for an individual area bear the name national coach.
National coaches are usually employees of the respective sports association, but often only have a fixed-term contract, which is usually extended in the event of success (and financing). In Olympic sports there are usually four-year contracts for an Olympiad ; In Olympic amateur sports, the salaries of the national coaches are largely financed by earmarked grants from the Federal Ministry of the Interior .
In most non-Olympic amateur sports , national coaches work on a voluntary basis or with a fee contract . They are often successful club coaches who are then commissioned by the association to look after the national team.
