Andrea Giani (born April 22, 1970 in Naples ) is a former Italian volleyball player and today's volleyball coach.

Career as a player

Andrea Giani started his career at Pallavolo Sabaudia in 1982 . From 1985 to 2007 the middle blocker, which was also universally applicable, played 22 years in the "A1 series" at the top clubs Pallavolo Parma and Pallavolo Modena . During this time he was five times Italian champion, five times Italian cup winner, twice Champions League winner , three times European cup winner , three times CEV cup winner and once club world champion .

Andrea Giani played 474 times for the national team from 1988 to 2005 , making it the record-breaking Italian national player. He took part in five Olympic tournaments and won several world and European championships as well as the world league and world cup.

In 2008 Andrea Giani was inducted into the " Volleyball Hall of Fame ".

Career as a coach

Giani has been a trainer since 2008. Initially he worked for the Italian clubs Pallavolo Modena , M. Roma Volley and Volley Blu Verona . As coach of the Slovenian national team , he won the European league and the silver medal at the European championships in 2015 . Giani has been the coach of the German men's national team since 2017 and, at the same time, of the Italian first division club Revivre Powervolley Milan .
