Peter Schlickenrieder (born February 16, 1970 in Tegernsee ) is a former German cross-country skier . Today he works as an author , freelance entrepreneur and functionary . Since April 24, 2018 he has been the national trainer for German cross-country skiers. He is married and has two children.
Career
Cross-country skier
Schlickenrieder's greatest successes were the silver medal in the sprint at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , two individual World Cup wins and one relay World Cup and five German championship titles. He also won bronze with the German relay at the 1990 Junior World Championships in Les Saisies, France .
For his sporting successes he was honored on May 6, 2002 with the silver laurel leaf .
Entrepreneur and functionary
Parallel to his sporting career, he studied economics. He then founded a sports marketing agency and has been Vice President of the German Ski Association since 2005 . Since 2002 he has been working as a television expert and co-moderator for the cross-country skiing discipline on ARD with changing moderators, such as B. also with Wolfgang Nadvornik . Since 2008, Peter Schlickenrieder can also be seen as a fitness expert in the ARD program "ARD Buffet".
On January 24th, 2009 he joined Wetten, dass ..? up and won his bet. In the outdoor bet in Sölden, he competed with a snowcat.
On December 3, 2009, Peter Schlickenrieder was the only German who was allowed to carry the Olympic torch on her way to the 2010 Winter Olympics as part of the “Olympic Torch Relay” . It was the 35th day of the journey of the Olympic torch that passed through Old Quebec.
After finishing his career as a cross-country skier, Peter Schlickenrieder is often out and about as a sporty adventurer. Since 2006 he has repeatedly crossed the Alps by mountain bike and ski. In the spring of 2011 he crossed the Atlas Mountains in Morocco on a mountain bike. In July 2012 he crossed the West Caucasus on foot and climbed the Elbrus, the highest mountain in Europe. As a summary of his adventures, Peter Schlickenrieder went on tour through Bavaria in October 2012 with his lecture series cold-hot-high .
Since 2010, Peter Schlickenrieder has been the honorary patron of the School Sports Commission of the German Ski Association, which in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Schools across Germany wants to inspire children across Germany for sport and exercise in general in order to promote future talents at an early stage.
In the summer of 2012, Peter Schlickenrieder founded the mountain sports portal Mountix.com together with the marketing expert and book author Robert Jacobi and other colleagues .
