Otto Becker (born December 3, 1958 in Großostheim ) is the head coach of the German show jumpers .

Becker, who learned the profession of winemaker , was one of the most reliable German show jumpers for years. After he had won many victories in jumping competitions in the advanced level at a young age , he was a member of the sports promotion group at the sports school of the Bundeswehr in Warendorf in the early 1980s . Here he trained with Lutz Merkel, who later became a riding master .

At the 2000 Olympics in Sydney he won the gold medal with the team at the 2004 Games in Athens the bronze medal in team jumping. His greatest individual success was winning the World Cup final in Leipzig in 2002. With the team he was also able to win the silver medal at the World Equestrian Games in Stockholm in 1990 . Since 2009 he has been the national trainer of the German show jumpers.

Private

Becker was married to Olympic dressage champion Nicole Uphoff from 1993 to 1998 . He has been married to Julia Wilcke, the granddaughter of the publisher Jakob Funke, since 2000 . Becker lives with his wife and three children in Albersloh near Münster.
