Wolfgang Brinkmann (show jumper)

Wolfgang Brinkmann (born May 23, 1950 in Bielefeld ) is a former German show jumper and current entrepreneur.

Brinkmann became Olympic champion in team show jumping together with Ludger Beerbaum , Dirk Hafemeister and Franke Sloothaak in Seoul in 1988 . In the individual competition, he decided against a start in favor of Karsten Huck , although he was qualified for it. For this he was honored with several fair play prizes. He was considered one of the last amateurs in top sport.

Together with his brother Klaus Brinkmann, he runs the textile company bugatti Holding Brinkmann GmbH & Co. KG , one of the largest German men's fashion producers, founded by his father Friedrich Wilhelm Brinkmann . In 2011 they were jointly named Entrepreneur of the Year in East Westphalia-Lippe .

When his father died in 1994, Wolfgang Brinkmann gave up competitive sport. Since 1997 he has been running a riding stable with over 50 horses in the Laar district of Herford with his wife Petra and sons Markus and Thorsten . From 1990 to 2012 Brinkmann was chairman of the German Rider and Driver Association. Then the members elected him honorary president.
