The all-German team took part in the 1960 Summer Olympics in the Italian capital, Rome, with a delegation of 293 athletes, 238 men and 55 women, in 148 competitions in 17 sports.

Flag bearer

The show jumper Fritz Thiedemann carried the flag of Germany during the opening ceremony in the Olympic Stadium .

Medals

12 won gold, 19 silver and 11 bronze medals, the all-German team finished behind the teams of the Soviet Union , the United States and Italy's 4th place in the medal table .
