Uwe Jacobsen

Uwe Jacobsen (born September 22, 1940 in Aschersleben ) is a former swimmer from the Federal Republic of Germany who won an Olympic silver medal in 1964 as a member of the all-German team .

Uwe Jacobsen started for DSW in 1912 Darmstadt , where he trained with Hans-Joachim Klein . Jacobsen won the German championship on the 100-meter freestyle course in 1960, 1961 and 1963. He was able to qualify for the all-German team in both 1960 and 1964. In 1960 in Rome , he retired both in the individual and with the layer relay in the lead. In 1964 in Tokyo , he finished eighth in the 100 meter freestyle in 56.1 seconds, after needing 54.8 seconds in the semifinals. With the 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay consisting of Horst Löffler from Ulm, Frank Wiegand from Rostock, Uwe Jacobsen and Hans-Joachim Klein, he won the silver medal four seconds behind the relay from the United States. This relay was one of the few teams in the all-German team in which East and West German athletes competed together.

For his success he received the silver bay leaf on December 11, 1968.
