history

The club was founded in 1912 as a pure swimming club. In 1949, a privately founded rowing and canoeing club joined the club system and thus opened a new department. In the meantime, the DSW also offers volleyball and triathlon and is known nationally in the latter.

Departments

swim

The swimming department is the largest and most successful at the DSW. In the 1960s and 1970s in particular, she brought out numerous international greats such as Hans-Joachim Klein , Uwe Jacobsen , Traudi Beierlein, Werner Freitag , Andreas Weber, Thomas Lebherz , André Schadt and Heike Hustede . The first team includes Marco Koch , who won the only medal for the pool swimmer in Barcelona in early August 2013 . With 2: 08.54 min he was runner-up in the 200 m breaststroke. Yannick Lebherz , who grew up at the DSW, and Marco Koch have already set more than 20 German youth records together.
