from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kai Hundertmarck (born April 25, 1969 in Kelsterbach ) is a former German cyclist .

Athletic career

From 1996 to 2003 he drove for Team Telekom , previously for the Motorola team . He achieved his greatest success here in 2000 with the victory in Rund um den Henninger-Turm . In 2004 he ended his professional career as a cyclist and has since devoted himself to triathlon . After the 2009 season, he finally ended his sporting career. His highest placement at Ironman Hawaii was 16th place in 2004. His best overall result was achieved in 2007 at Ironman Austria as fourth. In 2019 he started again as an amateur at Ironman Hawaii.

A dispute between the triathlete and the organizer of Ironman Germany in Frankfurt, Kurt Denk , became publicly known . In 2007, the latter demanded an affidavit from the athletes that they had never doped. Hundertmarck made a different statement because, according to his statement, he would otherwise be obliged to start other competitions. The organizer Kurt Denk publicly questioned the former telecom professional because of a possible doping past. An exchange of blows followed; Hundertmarck was excluded from Ironman Germany for life. To explain his innocence, Hundertmarck ultimately took the anti-doping oath, although he did not start in the competition.
