Around the old town of Nuremberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The cycle race around the old town of Nuremberg was a one-day race for men and women, which took place annually in September in Nuremberg .

The race has been held for men in the professional category since 1991 and as an elite race since the introduction of the standard license in 2005 .

For women, this event was part of the women's cycling world cup from 2006–2009 . The men's race was part of the UCI Europe Tour between 2005 and 2009 and was classified there in category 1.1. Since 2010, both elite races have been organized as circuit races in the national calendar of the Association of German Cyclists . A women's race was not held in 2011.

At the beginning there was a race for everyone , in 2006 over 800 athletes from all over Germany took part. School and youth races also took place on this race day.

From 2013 to 2015, all around Nuremberg's old town was only held as a public race, as a triathlon and recumbent bike race, as well as a run and bike competition. However, the route of the 2013 race was the last stage of the Bayern Rundfahrt . With the cancellation of the Bayern Tour 2016, this event was also canceled. In the absence of sponsors, the two races were also canceled for 2017.
