Athletic career
Kirsten Wild has been a professional cyclist since 2004 and achieved numerous successes on the road . In 2007 she won the overall ranking of the Tour de Pologne Feminine , and in 2009, 2010, 2013 and 2014 she won the Tour of Qatar . At the UCI Road World Championships in 2012 , she and her team won bronze in the team time trial .
Wild was also successful on the track : at the 2011 UCI Track World Championships in Apeldoorn , the Netherlands , she won bronze in the Omnium .
In 2012 Kirsten Wild started at the Olympic Games in London in the Omnium and in the team pursuit (with Vera Koedooder , Ellen van Dijk and Amy Pieters ) and finished sixth in both disciplines. In 2018 she became three-time world champion in scratch, points race and omnium in Apeldoorn ; in the two-man team race, she finished second with Amy Pieters . This made her the most successful athlete at these world championships. In January 2019, she said in an interview that 2018 was the most successful year of her career; Her goal is now a medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo .
In the following year, Wild continued to be successful: after three gold medals in the track cycling world cup , she became two-time world champion on the track and won two more medals. At the European Games in Minsk , she won the scratch competition.
In 2019 Kirsten Wild started at the Prudential RideLondon & Surrey Classic to repeat her win there from the previous year. There was a mass fall 100 meters from the finish. Wild was the first to cross the finish line but was later disqualified for causing the fall.
