Yoanka González Pérez (born January 9, 1976 in Cifuentes , Villa Clara , Cuba ) is a former Cuban cyclist who was active on the road and track . She is the only Cuban cyclist to date to have won a medal at the Olympic Games (as of 2017).

Athletic career

Yoanka González has been active in competitive cycling since the late 1990s. In 1999 she finished second in the road race at the Pan American Games ; In 2003 she won the gold medal. Also in 1999 she was runner-up on the road, and in 2003 she was third. At the 2004 World Track Championships in Melbourne , she won the scratch world title .

In the following years, González took several podium places at national, world championships and world cup races . She also took part in the Olympic Games three times, in 2000 , 2004 and 2008 in Beijing , where she won the silver medal in the points race.

In March 2017, Yoanka González officially announced her resignation.

Yoanka González is married to the Cuban cyclist Pedro Pablo Pérez Márquez.
