Yumari González Valdinieso (born June 13, 1979 in Santa Clara , Cuba ) is a former Cuban cyclist who is active on track and road . She became world and panamerican champions.
Athletic career
1997 Yumari González first drew international attention with a second place finish at the Track World Junior Championships in Cape Town in the Sprint . In 2005, at the Pan American Championships in Mar del Plata , she won the sprint and took third place in the 500 m time trial , in the points trial and in the road race. In 2006 and 2008 she was able to win the road race of the Pan American Championships; 2007 that of the Pan American Games .
In 2007 and 2009 , Yumari González was world champion in scratch on the track; In 2008 and 2010 she became vice world champion in this discipline. In 2012 she became the Pan-American road racing champion , and at the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games , she won the gold medal in the team pursuit together with her teammates Marlies Mejías , Arlenis Sierra and Yudelmis Dominguez . She was runner-up in the road race. She had another great success at the Pan-American Championships in 2015 with third place in the road race. The following year, she became the national road individual time trial champion. In the same year she ended her cycling career.
