Points race
The points race is a discipline of track cycling .
regulate
When driving for points, after a mass start, points (5, 3, 2, 1 points) are awarded at predetermined intervals (e.g. every 10 laps) for placement when reaching the finish line . In addition, there are 20 points credit for each lap win (i.e. lapping the field) by a driver compared to the main field. In the event of a lap loss compared to the main field, 20 points will be deducted so that a driver's point account can also be negative. The winner is whoever has achieved the most points in the end. Until the rule was changed, the same rule as in two-man team driving: lap wins counted before points were won (i.e. a driver could have more points than a competitor; if he had won a lap, he was still classified ahead of the driver with more points). After another rule change in October 2016, the final scoring counts twice, so that 10, 6, 4 and 2 points are awarded.
The routes for points races are 10 to 40 kilometers (men) and 5 to 24 kilometers (women).
The rules for the points race apply accordingly to the speed race , in which the leader is awarded one point after each lap.
