Elimination run

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The elimination races is a discipline of track cycling .

The competition begins with a common start for all racing drivers . In intervals - every two laps for track lengths of 333.333 meters and less, each lap for longer tracks - the last driver is eliminated; the rear wheel is decisive. A round win is not counted, but a round deficit is. The drivers are placed in the order in which they are eliminated.

For many years, the elimination race was held almost exclusively in six-day races. As part of the Omnium , it has been part of the UCI Track World Championships program since 2011 and, in this form, will also be part of the Olympic Games program from 2012 . In 2015, this discipline was officially held independently for the first time at the UEC European Railway Championships . In June 2020, the elimination race was added to the program of the World Championships and the UCI Track Cycling Nations' Cup .
