The 100th UCI Track World Championships took place from March 24th to 28th, 2010 in the Ballerup Super Arena in Ballerup near Copenhagen ( Denmark ).

The Australian team was able to expand its dominant position from 2009 with six gold medals compared to four from the previous year at these world championships . The most successful athlete was the Australian Cameron Meyer with three titles, the most successful athlete the Canadian Tara Whitten, who won two competitions.

The German team could not achieve their stated goal of at least three medals. She only got two; her most successful athlete was Maximilian Levy with a gold medal in the team sprint and a bronze medal in the keirin. In the sprint, the German Robert Förstemann managed a surprising victory against the ten-time world champion Chris Hoy from Great Britain, but in the end he only ended up in 4th place. The tenth place of the German track four, the former flagship of the Association of German Cyclists , was particularly disappointing a time gap of around eleven seconds on the winning team from Australia.

The Swiss team suffered the clear defeat of the two successful six-day drivers Franco Marvulli and Alexander Aeschbach in the two-man team, who ended up in 15th place.
