Michael Hepburn (born August 17, 1991 in Brisbane ) is an Australian track and road cyclist.

Athletic career

Michael Hepburn won the 2009 Australian Track Cycling Championships in Adelaide, the junior competitions in the singles pursuit , the team pursuit and in the omnium . In the single pursuit, he set a new junior world record. At the Junior World Championships in Moscow he was world champion in the single pursuit and second in the team pursuit. In the elite class, Hepburn was successful in the team pursuit in Melbourne and Beijing at the Track Cycling World Cup 2009/2010 . In 2010 he became the Australian Master in Omnium. At the 2010 World Track Cycling Championships in Ballerup , Hepburn was world champion in team pursuit.

On the road, Michael Hepburn won a stage in the Tour of Tasmania in 2008 and in 2009 he was successful in two parts of the Tour of the Murray River. From 2010 he drives for the Australian team Jayco-Skins . In his first year there, he was national champion in road racing in the U23 class.

In 2013 Hepburn became world champion in the team pursuit in Minsk , together with Glenn O'Shea , Alexander Morgan and Alexander Edmondson as well as in the single pursuit.

In 2016 Michael Hepburn was nominated for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and together with Alexander Edmondson , Jack Bobridge and Sam Welsford won the silver medal in the team pursuit. In the same year he and his Orica-BikeExchange team came third in the team time trial at the road world championships .
