Bay Cycling Classic

The Bay Cycling Classic is a four-stage cycle race around Port Phillip in the Australian state of Victoria . The competition is organized for men and women every January.

The individual day segments are criteria . The Bay Cycling Classic was first held in 1989. The title sponsor has been the Mitchelton Wines winery since 2014 ; before that, the caravan manufacturer Jayco was represented on behalf of the race. The men's record winner is Robbie McEwen with six overall victories, while Rochelle Gilmore has the most victories in the women with three wins. Until 2009 the race was held in five stages. In 2018 the race was canceled due to scheduling problems.

Every year, as part of the race, the so-called Amy's Ride takes place, an event at which fans can ride a certain distance with the participants of the Bay Cycling Classic to collect donations for the Amy Gillett Foundation .
