Katie Mactier (born March 23, 1975 in Melbourne ) is a former Australian cyclist who was active on the road and track . She was one of the dominant female cyclists in her country in the 2000s; their specialty was one's pursuit .

Athletic career

It was not until the age of 24 that Katie Mactier, who had previously been a triathlete , decided to go cycling exclusively. She previously completed her marketing studies at Welsley College, Melbourne.

In 2001 Katie Mactier became the Australian road racing champion. In 2003 and 2004 she became vice world champion in the single pursuit on the track, in 2005 world champion in this discipline. There were also numerous Australian championship titles on track and road, victories at track world cups and further podium places at track world championships. In 2006 she won the single pursuit at the Commonwealth Games .

Katie Mactier took part in the Olympic Games twice, in 2004 in Sydney , where she won a silver medal in the singles pursuit, and in 2008 in Beijing , where she was overtaken by the later gold medalist Rebecca Romero in the first round of the competition. Then she ended her cycling career.

In 2003 Katie Mactier was named Australian Track Cyclist of the Year and in 2005 Track Cyclist of the Year . She is married to New Zealand cyclist Greg Henderson and lived in Girona ; In 2009 a daughter was born to the couple. In 2017, Mactier and Henderson lived in Boulder , Colorado , in the United States with two children .

In 2017 Kate Mactier was inducted into the Cycling Australia Hall of Fame .
