In January 2019, the 18-year-old giant was the youngest starter, surprisingly the Australian road champion, with a lead of 50 seconds on the runner-up Amanda Spratt , vice road world champion in 2018 . In March of that year she was U23 Oceania champion in the individual time trial and finished second in the women's road race. In 2020 she was again Australian road champion.

Miscellaneous

Sarah Gigante began cycling by riding a regular tandem to school with her mother Kerry . When she was eight she was tired of looking her mother on the back and started cycling, she later reported in an interview.

In 2018, Gigante achieved the highest possible value of 99.95 points in the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) for admission to universities. This gave her a scholarship to study at Melbourne University . After her fall in early summer, in which she broke both arms, her mother wrote down the necessary work for her.
