NGC 7131 is a Lenticular Galaxy of the Hubble-type S0 in the constellation Capricorn on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 247 million light years from the Milky Way and about 125,000 light years across.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 7134 .
The Type Ia supernova SN 1998co was observed here.
The object was discovered by Albert Marth on August 7, 1864 .
