Allan Davis (born July 27, 1980 in Ipswich ) is a former Australian cyclist . Davis was a successful sprinter and was suspected of doping throughout his career .

Career

Davis began his professional career in 2001 with Team Mapei and won his first international elite race for this team with the Trofeo Manacor . In the next few years he won various smaller one-day races and sections of stage races . In the classic Paris-Tours 2004 he was fourth, in Milan-Turin in the same year sixth. Allan Davis achieved his greatest victory in the 2009 Tour Down Under , where he won the overall standings and three stages. At the 2010 road world championships, he won the bronze medal.

As part of the doping investigation " Operacion Puerto " Davis was suspected of having belonged to the customer base of Eufemiano Fuentes . At his request , the Court of Arbitration for Sport lifted an outright entry ban for the 2008 UCI Road World Championships in Varese .

At the end of the 2013 season, he ended his cycling career.

Allan is the younger brother of Scott Davis , who was also a cyclist.
