Church in Mikulovice

Mikulovice (German Niklasdorf ) is a municipality in Okres Jeseník in the Czech Republic .

geography

Mikulovice extends into Moravian Silesia in the valley of the Bělá , into which the Lesní potok and the Olešnice ( Elsnitz ) flow here.

To the east of the Olešnice is the border forest, in the south the beech forest on the slopes of the Strážisko ( Rehberg , 610 m), to the west below the Na Vyhlídce ( Dickelsberg , 502 mnm) the Breite Busch and north of the Kretschamberg (395 m).

On the Na Vyhlídce there are deposits of migmatite .

history

The Bělá in Mikulovice

It was first mentioned in documents in 1263 as Villa Nikolai . In the Middle Ages, mining was carried out here and gold panned in the river . From 1413 the village belonged to the district of the provost of Endersdorf . In 1672 the parish Niklasdorf was established.

In 1903 parts of the place were destroyed by floods. Five years later, the survey was carried out on the market within Austria-Hungary . In 1930, 3338 residents lived in the village (including Buchberg), of which 3145 were Germans. On May 17, 1939, the market town of Niklasdorf had 3,317 residents and on May 22, 1947, 1,624 residents. After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Empire and until 1945 belonged to the Freiwaldau district . Due to the Beneš decrees , almost all German-Moravian residents were expropriated and expelled in 1945 . After the war, Czechs, repatriates and Slovaks moved in from the interior. In 1961 Kolnovice was incorporated (with Terezín and Vysutá ).

Community structure

The municipality of Mikulovice consists of the districts Kolnovice ( Kohlsdorf ), Mikulovice ( Niklasdorf ) and Široký Brod ( Breitenfurt ). Basic settlement units are Kolnovice, Mikulovice, Široký Brod, Terezín ( Theresienfeld ) and Vysutá ( Rennersfeld ). The locations Bukovec ( Buchberg ), Na Samotách and Nový Mlýn ( Neumühle ) also belong to Mikulovice .

The municipality is divided into the cadastral districts of Kolnovice, Mikulovice u Jeseníka and Široký Brod.

The roads from Jeseník to Głuchołazy and from Vidnava to Zlaté Hory cross in Mikulovice . The place is located on the Hanušovice – Głuchołazy railway line opened in 1896 and the Mikulovice – Zlaté Hory branch line .
