geography

Uhelná extends in the valley of the Lánský potok at the foot of the Travenská hornatina ( Krautenwalder Bergland ), part of the Reichensteiner Mountains . West lies the Krebstal ( Račí údolí ), to the east the substance that results from a pond Lignitbergwerk Pelnar.

Neighboring towns are Horní Fořt, Dolní Fořt, Mlatci Zahradníci and Domkáři in the north, Bernartice in the Northeast, Buková in the east, Vlčice the southeast, Zastávka and Hřibova in the south, Nové Vilémovice and Červený Důl in the southwest, Travná and Zálesí in the west and Javorník in the northwest .

history

Serksdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1290 as a property of the Johannesberg lordship . In 1372 the village of Nieder Forst was laid out around a courtyard. A part of the farm was divided up to settlers in 1557, the new settlement was called the Priebner people after the founder and farm owner Priebner. The forest to the north was acquired by the diocese of Breslau and the Ober Forst settlement founded, while the Dreschgärtner settlement was established to the east in 1569. The Ober Forst farm was built by Johannesberg castle captain Johann Tümling in 1669 and later elevated to a knighthood. Another local foundation was also at a standstill during this time . A dispute arose over this village between the diocese and the Lords of Maltitz auf Wildschütz , as a result of which the diocese was prohibited from further expansion.

In 1836 Sörgsdorf had 682 inhabitants and consisted of 98 houses. 174 people live in the 15 houses in Ober Forst. Standstill consisted of 12 houses with 71 residents. In Priebnerfolk there were 36 houses with 133 residents and in Dreschgärtner the 121 residents lived in 15 houses. Clay and loam was mined near Sörgsdorf Schulzendorf.

After the abolition of patrimonial Sörgsdorf formed from 1850 with the districts Ober Forst, Stillstand and Nieder Forst (with threshing gardeners and Priebner people) a community in the Freiwaldau district . In Ober Forst a hut was built in 1855 to process the arsenic iron ore from the Jauernig mines. In 1859 the “Friedrich” lignite mine started operations.

In 1930 the community of Sörgsdorf had 1,087 inhabitants. After the Munich Agreement , Sörgsdorf was added to the German Reich and belonged to the Freiwaldau district from 1939 to 1945 . The population in 1939 was 1078. After the Second World War, the name was changed to Serksdorf and the German residents were expelled . In 1948 the place name was changed to Uhelná, the Czech word uhelná means coal. The name, newly introduced in 1948, refers to the region's coal mining. 1949 Hraničky , Červený Důl and Nové Vilémovice were incorporated. The Pelnář lignite mine was closed in 1957. The village of Hraničky on the Polish border was abandoned and fell into disrepair. At the beginning of 1961 the community came to Okres Šumperk and in 1985 it was incorporated into Javorník . The municipality Uhelná has existed again since 1990 and since the beginning of 1996 it has belonged to the Okres Jeseník .
