history
The parish village Sparrenhau , which belongs to the Goldenstein rule, was founded in 1561. In the Moravian hoof register of 1677 41 farms (farms) are shown for the village.
After the parish in Spornhau had already expired in the 16th century, it was rebuilt in 1795 after the church of St. Three kings rebuilt. The schoolhouse was inaugurated in 1800, after which lessons had taken place in various private houses since the 18th century. In 1834, 627 people lived in the 98-house village. After the First World War, Spornhau Sitz became a state forest district that managed 900 hectares of forest. A sawmill was operated in the village to process the wood. There were also two grinding mills.
After the abolition of the patrimonial rule , the political community Spornhau / Spornava with the district Peterswald was established in 1848, which from 1850 belonged to the district authority of Mährisch Schönberg . In 1888 the railway line from Hannsdorf to Freiwaldau was built over the pass . In 1918, in addition to the German school, a Czech minority school was established, which was closed in 1938.
In 1930, 708 people lived in Spornhau. As a result of the Munich Agreement , the municipality was annexed to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the Mährisch Schönberg district until 1945 . In 1939 Spornhau had 658 inhabitants. After the Second World War, the German residents were expelled . After the repopulation, many of the residents left the place because of the poor soil. At the same time, the tourist development of the place began. Ramzová has also been part of the municipality since 1960. In 1975 Ostružná was incorporated into Branná . At the beginning of 1990 the community was re-established and in 1996 it came to Okres Jeseník . A cable car was built on the Šerák from Ramzová and Petříkov developed into a winter sports center with a bobsled run.
