The Šerák (German Hochschar , 1351 m nm) is a mountain in the Jeseníky Mountains , located on the historical border between Moravia and Silesia . Together with the neighboring Kepernik ( Keprník , German also: Glaserberg) it is part of the national game reserve Šerak-Keprník and the protected area (CHKO) Jeseníky. The Georgian Refuge (Chata Jiřího) stands at an altitude of 1330 m.

topography

The Hochschar and its rock formations form the northern end of the main ridge of the Jeseníky Mountains. In the west, the slopes of the Hochschar fall over the Sonntagsberg ( Mračná Hora ) and the Schwarzküppel ( Čerňava ) saddle down to the Ramsauer Sattel ( Ramzovské sedlo ). In the east the Hochschar slopes down to the wide valley of the Biele . Neighboring mountains of the Hochschar are in the east the bellows ( Šumný ), in the northwest the Ammichstein ( Obří skály , German also: giant rocks ), in the north the Schnee-Urlich ( Sněhulák ), in the south the Kepernik. In the north, the slopes of the Hochschar fall into the valley of the street stream ( Ramzovský potok ).

The Hochschar lies on the most important European watersheds between the Black Sea and the Baltic Sea . The Nitsch water ( Keprnický potok ) and the Mühlbach ( Javořický potok ) flow into the Biele , the Oder and finally into the Baltic Sea. The Mittelbordbach ( Klepáčský potok , Branná ), which rises on the south-western slopes of the Hochschar, brings its water over the Danube into the Black Sea .

Ascent

The easiest access is by cable car from Ramzová . The valley station in Ramsau is about 500 m from the Ramsau train station, which can be reached by train from Jeseník and Olomouc . The Hochschar can be reached with marked hiking trails from several directions:

  • From Ramsau, the classic ascent leads along the red hiking trail. It runs around the valley station of the cable car, the water fountain to the U Dobré vody junction , then along the red markings to the Schwarzküppel saddle ( Čerňava ) over the Sonntagsberg to the summit of the Hochschar.
  • From Ramsau you can also follow the green markings through the Mordová rokle , from where the path leads through dense vegetation to the Ammichstein, further up the steep blue marked path. The Ammichstein can also be made easier by the blue marking of Nieder Lindewiese ( Horni Lipová ).
  • From Spornhau ( Ostružná ) along the blue marking of the U Dobré vody junction and the red marking as above.
  • From Bad Lindewiese ( Lipová-lázně ) and Freiwaldau there are paths that connect with the yellow marking that overcomes a height of 400 m in the serpentines for about 1 km.
  • From Waldenburg ( Bělá pod Pradědem ) a blue marking leads through the Uhustein ( Výrovku ) and over the bellows ( Šumný ). This route measures 10 km, with an altitude difference of 850 m.
  • From Goldenstein ( Branná ) a yellow direction leads over the Fuhrmannstein ( Vozka ) to the Hochschar.
  • From the Roterbergsattel ( Červenohorské sedlo ) along the main ridge, either over the summit of the Roteberg ( Červená Hora ) or on the slope of the Roteberg ( Červená Hora ) past the Heidebrünnl ( Vřes Studánka ), and with yellow markings further to the Kepernik and Hochschar.
