Česká Ves (German: Böhmischdorf ) is a municipality with an area of 24.5 km² and 2,500 inhabitants and is located in the Okres Jeseník ( Czech Republic ).
geography
The village borders directly on the northern part of the Jeseníky Mountains and stretches at an altitude of 400 meters along the Bělá river , towards Mikulovice and the Polish border. The Zlatý Chlum ( Goldkoppe ) rises to the south .
history
The first written mention comes from the year 1416, probably because the hermits at that time still belonged to the place Waltersdorf (Waltherovici), which was mentioned as early as 1284. Böhmischdorf was the property of the Breslau bishops and their dominants from Freiwaldau . The number of residents rose steadily through gold mining . The village underwent the greatest change when the chain factory was built in 1894. On December 1, 1930, the municipality of Böhmischdorf had 2,631 inhabitants, on May 17, 1939 2,408 and on May 22, 1947 there were 1,636 inhabitants.
After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Empire and until 1945 belonged to the Freiwaldau district . The Germans were expropriated and driven out in 1945.
Sons and daughters of the place
- Johann Schroth (1798–1856), natural healer
- Rudolf Sperner (1919–2010), former federal chairman of IG Bau-Steine-Erden
