The Okres Šumperk (German district Mährisch Schönberg ) is a regional authority in Olomoucký kraj in the Czech Republic . The Okresy were roughly comparable with the districts in Germany, the district administrations were dissolved on December 31, 2002. Today, the region is often referred to in the Czech Republic with the term Šumpersko (roughly translatable as Moravian Schönberger Land ).
The district was located in the north-west of Moravia and stretches from the south-west Jeseníky Mountains to the Glatzer Schneegebirge . In Okres Šumperk there are 120,711 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) in 77 communities (Obec). Agriculturally usable areas take up 43% of 1,313 km², forest areas 48%.
Attractions
Šumpersko offers tourists many castles, chateaus and other historical buildings as well as museums and galleries.
- In Loštice there is an original museum for the production of Olomouc curd cheese, as well as a synagogue and a Jewish cemetery .
- In Velké Losiny , the famous witch trials of Groß Ullersdorf were held in the local Renaissance castle . In addition, there are attractive mountains, river valleys and nature parks in the district.
On January 1, 2007, the Lipinka municipality moved to the Okres Olomouc .
